Meet the Tarzana Team Behind Otto’s Garage Door

We have been fixing and installing garage doors in Tarzana since 2004, and the people who answer your call are the same people who show up at your door. No call center, no rotating cast of subcontractors. A small crew of local techs who know the San Fernando Valley heat, the way salt air drifts inland, and why a spring that works fine in Burbank might fail differently up on the hillsides off Reseda Boulevard. This is the team that carries the Otto’s Garage Door name on their backs and on their work.

Our People

Otto Reinhardt – Owner and Lead Technician

Otto founded Otto’s Garage Door in 2004 and still takes calls himself, often at nine at night when a spring lets go. He has installed, repaired, or replaced thousands of doors across Tarzana, Encino, Woodland Hills, and the surrounding valley, and he counts spring cycles the way other people count tire miles. If Otto tells you the opener is fine and the door itself is the problem, he’s usually right. He trains every tech on the crew and still runs the hardest jobs, especially the ones involving high-tension springs where experience is the difference between a quick repair and a hospital visit. When he’s not under a door, he’s probably at a local diner arguing about whether a palindrome is actually reversible in a garage door context.

Mike R. – Senior Installer

Mike has been installing garage doors for eighteen years, and the last eleven of them have been with Otto’s Garage Door. He is the person you want when your old wooden door from 1978 finally warps beyond saving and you need a new Clopay or Amarr door measured, ordered, and set perfectly level. Mike handles full door replacements, track alignment, and the kind of finish work that separates a door that opens from a door that opens quietly and closes flush every time. He has installed doors on just about every block in Tarzana, from Vanalden to Wilbur, and he remembers the odd ones, like the time a homeowner had a custom swing-out carriage door that had not been serviced since Reagan was in office. He’s quiet, methodical, and the first to point out when a repair makes more sense than a replacement, even when the replacement would cost more.

Elena S. – Service Coordinator and Opener Specialist

Elena joined the crew eight years ago and handles scheduling, parts ordering, and anything with a circuit board. She is factory-trained on LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie openers, and when a homeowner says the door won’t close, Elena is usually the one who figures out whether it’s a sensor alignment issue, a logic board failure, or just a dying battery in a keypad. She also keeps the truck stocked so that most repairs happen in one visit instead of two. Elena grew up in the San Fernando Valley and knows the difference between the morning marine layer in Tarzana and the dry afternoons further north, which matters when you are calibrating safety sensors that glare can trip. She’s the person who will tell you straight if your opener is straining because the spring is shot, not because the motor is weak.

James K. – Apprentice Technician

James has been with Otto’s Garage Door for two years, apprenticing under Otto and Mike on everything from broken cables to full door replacements. He started on the parts counter, learning the difference between a Wayne Dalton torque-master setup and a standard torsion system before he ever touched a winding bar. James handles most of the routine maintenance calls now, including lubrication, roller replacement, and balance checks on doors across Tarzana and Reseda. He is also the member of the crew most likely to notice a bent track before it becomes a shattered roller, which Otto appreciates because he’d rather fix a $40 problem on a Tuesday than a $600 problem on a Saturday night. James grew up in the valley and is currently learning every major brand Otto stocks, from Raynor to Craftsman.

One Standard, Every Job

Every person on this crew follows the same rule: quote the price on the phone, hold that price at the door, and stand behind the work for ninety days in writing. That’s the 90-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s on every invoice because Otto believes a guarantee you won’t put in writing isn’t a guarantee. The same standard applies whether it’s a 2 a.m. emergency spring replacement in Tarzana or a scheduled opener upgrade in Encino. Licensed, insured, background-checked, and in uniform so you always know who’s on your property. We answer our own phones, we do our own work, and one call brings the owner back if anything isn’t right. That’s how a local garage door company in the San Fernando Valley has stayed in business since 2004 while national chains cycle through.
